“This is such a great fit!” This was a wonderful and welcome reaction from a potential funder after only about 15 minutes of discussion. In late February 2024, The Sienna For Seniors Foundation encouraged Debra Chandler, ED of Concerts in Care Ontario and Raymond Aucoin, MD of Health Arts BC to craft a proposal for the new Foundation.
As a result, we are delighted to be the recipients of the first $50,000 grant from this philanthropic arm of Sienna Senior Living, a distinguished name in the Canadian seniors living sector. Our mandates and philosophies are indeed a perfect match.
Sienna for Seniors Foundation’s mission is rooted in the belief that every senior deserves moments of joy and happiness every single day. Whether it’s through meaningful engagements, creative programs, or simple gestures of kindness, Sienna for Seniors Foundation objective is to ensure that elders feel deeply connected to their communities.
Concerts in Care Ontario mandate is completely focussed on bringing joy and happiness to seniors with our music, every single day. We know our concerts strengthen community by creating shared experiences for residents, their families, and care partners, and we are privileged to constantly witness the powerful impact music has on our aging audiences.
This opportunity to be part of an initial investment by Sienna for Seniors Foundation is thrilling, and is proving to be mutually beneficial.
At one of our first concerts, at Sienna Weston Terrance, one resident wrote,
“A trio of jazz musicians played in our lobby this month. Simply outstanding and, at least for me, brought back memories of my Mother and Father who danced to this type of music. Very much enjoyed by all who attended. I even got a dance with Jerry (our Director of Care) which was unexpected but fun!”
And another said,
“The music brought tears of joy to my eyes. Thank you, Concerts In Care Ontario for coming to Weston Terrace and sharing your talents. Certainly appreciated by all present and hopefully there will be a return visit some time in the coming year.”
This generous funding is supporting hundreds of concerts in both Ontario and British Columbia, resulting in our music touching literally thousands of seniors, staff, families, and care partners.
