CreateMore – the effects of live music on front line Long-Term Care staff

Our 3-year research and performance project with Sheridan Centre for Elder Research, Schlegel Villages, and Lucid was completed in December 2025. It was a tremendous journey with so much learning.

Most importantly, over the 222 concerts we performed during this project, Concerts in Care Ontario helped demonstrate the positive impact, sheer joy, and often surprising ripple effects that so many kinds of live professional music had on the staff and residents in 14 Schlegel Villages.

Dr. Kate Dupuis, Schlegel Innovation Leader at Sheridan and Debra Chandler, Executive Director of Concerts in Care Ontario, have delivered more than a dozen conference presentations about this research, both in person throughout Ontario, including the Music and Health Research Institute and Therapeutic Recreation of Ontario, and on Zoom for the British Gerontology Association.
